Aerial survey photo

Aerial survey photographs of the Czech Republic. Photographs from 1936 to 2002 were acquired by the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic or its predecessors. Colour aerial survey photographs (LMS) acquired between 2003 and 2010 in cooperation with ČÚZK and the Ministry of Defence are digitised versions of analogue sources. Digital colour photographs acquired from 2010 onwards in cooperation with ČÚZK and the Ministry of Defence are provided together with an image in the NIR band. Historical photographs (approximately 770 000 images from the period 1936–2002) are being gradually made available depending on the progress of digitisation. Additionally, approximately half of the territory of the Czech Republic is newly captured each year. Aerial survey photographs are acquired using central projection; they are not orthophotographs and therefore cannot be used directly to measure spatial relationships between depicted geographic objects. They can be used for such measurements only by applying specialised photogrammetric methods.

Purpose: Aerial survey photos give evidence of state and landscape development in particular locations. They can be used for example during constructions, reconstruction of a former landscape, planning of a territorial development etc.

Data origin information: Letecké měřické snímky jsou archivované v analogové formě v Archivu leteckých měřických snímků Vojenského geografického a hydrometeorologického úřadu (VGHMÚř) v Dobrušce. Snímky z let 1936 až 2002 byly pořízeny Ministerstvem obrany České republiky, respektive jeho předchůdci. Od roku 2003 jsou snímky pořizovány ve spolupráci Českého úřadu zeměměřického a katastrálního a Ministerstva obrany České republiky. Na základě Rámcové smlouvy mezi Českým úřadem zeměměřickým a katastrálním a Ministerstvem obrany České republiky o spolupráci v zeměměřictví ze dne 27. září 2007, probíhá v současné době postupná digitalizace archivních leteckých měřických snímků v rámci společného projektu VGHMÚř a Zeměměřického úřadu.
