INSPIRE

sets general rules for establishing Infrastructure of Spatial Information in European Community that is legislatively protected by Directive 2007/2/EC. The European Infrastructure is based on infrastructures established and administered by individual member states, it means that each provider builds up its own and independent infrastructure by which it contributes to creation of national infrastructure. The goal is to ensure accessibility, quality, organization, availability and sharing of spatial information and necessary measures for exchange, sharing, access and use of interoperable spatial data and services founded by bodies at different level of public power and in various branches. The Directive refers to sets of spatial data that meet following conditions:

  • they relates to a territory where the state has or administers its sovereign rights
  • they are in electronic form
  • they are held by a body of public administration or by a third party
  • they relates to topics quoted in Annexes to the Directive

The Directive implies following requirements:

  • to publish interoperable and harmonized data
  • to create and update metadata of spatial data sets and services
  • to provide network services
  • to provide the e-shop for paid services
