ČÚZK Geoportal

ČÚZK Geoportal (hereafter Geoportal) is a complete Internet interface to access spatial data produced and updated by organizations of the Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (ČÚZK).

The Geoportal enables to search in one place for information (metadata) on spatial data provided by organizations subordinated to the ČÚZK, their preview, order or download if it is open data.

The Geoportal offers services of data sharing according rules of the EU INSPIRE Directive. It means that the Geoportal ensures namely:

  1. accessing spatial data files corresponding to themes mentioned in the Annex of the Directive;
  2. accessing services based on spatial data;
  3. publishing of metadata;
  4. services of Internet shop;
  5. sharing of spatial data files within the Public Administration;
  6. information on exploitation of the infrastructure.

Terminology used:

Spatial data (geodata) are data in electronic form directly or indirectly referring to a certain position or geographic area (in the case of the ČÚZK the data refer to the territory of the Czech Republic).
Metadata represent information describing data files of spatial data or services based on spatial data, that enable their searching, sorting and use.
INSPIRE - INfrastructure for SPatial InfoRmation in Europe is an initiative of the European Commission. The Directive of identical name of the European Commission and EU Council aims at creation of an European legislation frame needed for establishing of an European infrastructure for spatial information.
