Basic Topographic Map of the Czech Republic 1 : 5,000 in ETRS89-TMzn (ZTM 5/ETRS89-TMzn) in the planar coordinate system of the European Terrestrial Reference System 1989 in the Universal Transverse Mercator projection of meridian zones (ETRS89-TMzn), hereinafter referred to as ZTM 5/ETRS89, expands the series of state map works as of 1 January 2026 with the ZTM 5 variant in the ETRS89-TMzn planar coordinate system, thus representing an alternative to ZTM 5 in the national S-JTSK coordinate system. In terms of content, ZTM 5/ETRS89 does not differ from the primary ZTM 5/S-JTSK. It is available in the form of PDF print files (CMYK) with the complete content of the map sheet and in raster TIFF format (RGB, 24-bit color depth, resolution 508 dpi, LZW compression). The distribution unit is the ZTM 5/ETRS89 map sheet. In the case of the print PDF, the map sheet size is 500 × 790 mm. In the case of the raster TIFF tile, it is a segment measuring 411 × 522 mm. The placement of individual tiles in the coordinate system is ensured by text files (TFW). ZTM 5/ETRS89 displays the entire territory of the Czech Republic in a continuous layout of map sheets; the territory of the Czech Republic is depicted on 18,287 map sheets. ZTM 5/ETRS89, like ZTM 5/S-JTSK from which it is derived, contains planimetric features, hypsography, and map annotation. Planimetric content includes settlements and individual objects, transport networks, water features, boundaries of administrative units and cadastral areas, boundaries of protected areas, control points of the horizontal control network, vegetation, and land surface. Hypsographic content consists of terrain relief represented by contour lines and terrain steps. Map annotation consists of object type designations, standardized geographical nomenclature (including street names), contour values, elevation points, and building numbers. Only features occurring within the territory of the Czech Republic are depicted. Necessary generalization and positional shifts of individual objects are used to a very limited extent. The map therefore provides detailed information about the defined area with high positional accuracy while preserving the shape and size of displayed areal topographic objects as in the source databases. The PDF print file additionally contains the ETRS89-TMzn and S-JTSK kilometer grid and the ETRS89 geographic graticule, the map frame with frame information (e.g., directional information for selected roads, names of adjacent settlements, names of neighboring states, coordinates), and marginal information (e.g., legends, publishing data, graphic, numeric and slope scale, interpolation scale of the geographic grid of the ETRS89 coordinate system, graphic representation of the map in the layout of map sheets, expression of meridian convergence and magnetic declination, graphic representation of the overview of administrative and cadastral boundaries and boundaries of protected areas, etc.).
